Dr. Khanderao, who was conferred the Nadoja by Kannada University, Hampi. He is the present president of Karnataka Lalitakala (Fine art) Academy. Dr. Khanderao was the founder principal of Ideal Fine Arts Society in Gulbarga.

Dr. Khanderao would show live art demonstration and conduct exhibition of paintings on 12th Century Sharanas at the convention.

Dr. Khanderao is a product of the prestigious J.J. School of Arts in Mumbai and Nutan Kala Mandir, also in Mumbai. Dr. Khanderao, who was conferred the prestigious Nadoja Award by the Kannada University at Hampi, was responsible for establishing the Ideal Fine Art Institute in Gulbarga, which has produced many renowned artists. He has many national and international awards to his credit. His art works find place at Mumbai Art Society, Rashtreeya Kala Academy and Raman Research Institute, among others.

Noted painter and Nadoja Award winner J. S. Khanderao has been director of the art camp, camp based on the important incidents in the lives of Basavanna, the 12th Century social reformer, and other contemporary Sharanas. Camp was held in Mantralaya, Andhra Pradesh.
